Bude Sea Pool is a Life Saver

Another amazing community event was held at Bude Sea Pool on Wednesday 19thJune 2013 – the schools’ life-saving festival. Pupils from Budehaven and Bude Primary schools took part in a range of swimming and shore-side activities, were filmed by Sky TV, and got to meet Cassie Patten, open-water swimmer and Olympic medallist!

The festival was organised by Martin Raey, joint head of PE at Budehaven School, and his tireless team of helpers, aided immensely by the volunteers of the UK’s original Surf Live Saving Club, Bude SLSC.

The festival was hosted at Bude Sea Pool – the historic tidal swimming pool on the North Cornwall coast. The Pool is run by a local charity, FoBSP, and depends on membership, donations, sponsorship and grants to pay the annual running costs of £30,000. The FoBSP team of volunteers all gave up their free time to make sure this event went smoothly, while the FoBSP  pool attendants were on hand to safeguard the swimmers.

And make sure that the Pool stays open for many more wonderful events like this in future!
