FoBSP LIFEGUARDS: A Winning Team

As the 2013 season draws to a close, the FoBSP management committee would like to congratulate our Pool staff on the superb job they have done this season. Since April, our team of lifeguards have been on station every single day, in every extreme kind of weather, looking after the Pool and all the people who use it.

It’s been an especially demanding task this year, because of the wonderful weather which attracted thousands more people to the seaside. On top of that, the FoBSP lifeguards played a crucial role in making sure that more than 2500 SwimSafe lessons went smoothly. The ASA made a point of congratulating our team for their attitude, helpfulness, knowledge of the Pool’s importance to Bude, and the responsible way our team managed the large numbers of Pool users during the very busy summer holidays.

So please take a bow, Ben Sharp, Dom Clapton, Miles Lee-Hargreaves, Cameron Garty, Ella Henwood, Ben Halsey and Kelly Keat. You’ve been great, guys.

We would also like to give a big tip of the hat to volunteer Jim, who gave up many hours to help paint the beach huts this summer. And finally, our co-ordinator Fay also deserves a pat on the back for making sure everyone was where they were supposed to be at exactly the right moment!

The FoBSP lifeguards are still stationed at the Pool each day until the end of September. Then, depending on the weather, they’ll be keeping a watchful eye at weekends in October and during half-term week.

FoBSP pays for the Pool’s lifeguard cover from donations and memberships. To join FoBSP and contribute, please see www.budeseapool.net/join
