Steve’S Swim Is Quids In
Swimmer raises over £300 for vital Pool repairs
Lifelong swimmer and surfer Steve Munday took to the water to raise funds for the Sea Pool this summer. So far he has raised over £300 for FoBSP following his open water swim from Bude to Widemouth – a challenging distance of around four miles, even on a calm day for an experienced swimmer.
‘I’m confident about being able to swim to Widemouth,’ says Steve, ‘but it just wouldn’t be safe for people who don’t swim regularly or aren’t familiar with the area. That’s why it’s so important to keep the Sea Pool open.
‘My children aged 12 and 10 love the Sea Pool,’ says Steve. ‘We went there every day during the summer. They would be devastated if the Pool were to close so I decided to help FoBSP raise funds for the urgent repairs to the sea wall.’
Steve swam his Atlantic marathon in August, accompanied by Steve McClure, Jasmine Finney and Louise Denby Smith – seen here with Steve just before starting the swim. With their encouragement, Steve accomplished his goal and raised £325 towards next year’s structural repair project. Thanks Steve!
