Up, Up & Away!
Bude lawyer goes sky high for the Sea Pool
Three cheers for local lawyer Iain Robinson who’s going to the top of the world to raise funds for the Sea Pool. Iain is currently in Nepal, climbing Gokyo Ri, Kala Pattar and then climbing all the way to Everest Base Camp. Rather than looking for donations in the usual way he is inviting anyone heartened by his endeavour to join the Friends of Bude Sea Pool.
Iain, whose firm Peter Peter & Wright very kindly carry out the FoBSP’s vital legal work free of charge, said; ‘It’s a fairly serious altitude for someone who’s lived pretty much at sea level on the Devon and Cornwall coasts for the past six years. Each of the climbs tops out at well over 5000m – three miles higher than the sea pool – and I am sleeping under canvas for fifteen days straight.
‘As an alternative to asking for a few pounds for each peak, I’m inviting people to show their support by joining FoBSP. It’s a terrific cause and a small increase in membership will go a long way to keeping an important tourist attraction, safety feature and community facility open.’
To support the Sea Pool and give Iain a reason to battle on at 5500m and -15C, you can follow his lead and join FoBSP for just £10 via www.budeseapool.net/join
