Bude Pool Staff last day!

What a stunner of a day to finish on – much thanks goes out to all our 2014 Pool Staff.
Over the season they have tirelessly kept the pool hazard free, litter free, brought in revenue via merchandise, joining people up, whilst also being great ambassadors for Bude by giving out lots of information.

FoBSP would also like to thank all the wonderful volunteers and donators of produce, time and money to keep Bude Sea Pool going.

Please come along to our AGM on Monday 17th November at 730pm The Falcon Hotel, all welcome, to find out more about plans for 2014.

Swim Channel Challenge

Some 100+ stalwart swimmers were greeted with hot chocolate and home made cakes, donated and made by the community, when they took the plunge at Bude’s historic tidal swimming pool at the beginning of October. Cheered on by enthusiastic crowds, 18 teams of swimmers swam the distance of the Channel in the pool, raising much needed funds for Bude Sea Pool.

The sponsored swim was organised for the 2nd year running by the FoBSP Committee, being the brainchild of Budehaven’s PE Teacher Mel Bardsley. The event was oversubscribed from the outset and swimmers came from all over the UK and even from New York. Some swimmers had already swam the English Channel and some were using this as training for the real thing! This event tops off a further year of fundraising events with an exceptional £5000!

A big round of applause to Bill and Mel, and all involved in the Channel Challenge – swimmers, volunteers, donators of cakes, time and raffle prizes, Bude Cricket Pavilion, The Beach at Bude Speedo, Blue Seventy, Chadds Foodsmiths, Dave Smith at Bude Dive Club, Holdcroft Lighting and Electrical supplies, sorry if we’ve missed anyone…

Lots of supporters and swimmers have taken the opportunity to find out more about FoBSP, and have pledged to become members. If you would like to continue to support Friends of Bude Sea Pool
