Welcome to Bude Sea Pool

Bude Sea Pool is a semi-natural amenity that has provided a haven for free and safe bathing and other water-based activities since the 1930s.

Access to Bude Sea Pool is unrestricted and FREE of any admission charge, although it costs over £40,000 every year to keep it open and safe.

Almost 50,000 people visit Bude Sea Pool every year, making it the Number One visitor attraction in Bude.

It is managed by the Friends of Bude Sea Pool (FoBSP), a local charity that aims to preserve, improve and enhance Bude Sea Pool as a free amenity for the benefit of the community and the thousands of people who visit the town every year.

The FoBSP receives no public funding, so we rely on you to give us your support or make a donation to keep Bude Sea Pool going and to enhance this unique facility.

Swim – Safe

Billy O׳Mahony of Bude Open Water Swimmers (BOWS) group has written a very useful article about safe swimming and swimming safely in areas of open water .  That article can be found here and we commend it to all as an excellent read.

Staffing at the Pool

Pool Staff will be on duty as usual on all weekends in October and all week for half term (24th October – 1 November), unless otherwise authorised. This matches RNLI cover of Summerleaze and Crooklets beaches.

Update – 11 August 2020

Our lovely Sea Pool is now fully open to the public.

It is a free facility and open 24hrs a day, being manned every day from 1000 to 1800 by our team of Pool Staff whose job it is to ensure you have an enjoyable, safe and happy experience at the Sea Pool.

It can get very busy at the Sea Pool as we are in our peak season and yet, in accordance with Government guidelines, social distancing must be practised at all times. If you have any questions about this, please ask a member of the Pool Staff.

We hope you have a very enjoyable time at the Sea Pool.  You may not be aware that the Sea Pool is run by a group of local volunteers without any local, county or national government funding.

So, to help us maintain it as a great place to enjoy both the water and the sea air (and perhaps show your appreciation of this beautiful facility), you could do one of the following;

a.   Make a donation into one of the charity boxes on site,

b.   Buy Sea Pool merchandise at the Pool or from the shop in Summerleaze Car Park

c.    Become a Friend of Bude Sea Pool (still only £10 per year ).

Thank you so much and we look forward to seeing you again in the near future so please do come back and see us again.
