DESCRIPTION:World Ocean Day is a worldwide movement to engage with local communities and to inspire people to take action to protect our waters locally and as a planet. Why we are involved in Bude takes no explanation. We are our coastline. \nWe would like 200 people to come down to Bude Sea Pool and be part of a mass Silly Hat and Tow Float Dip! Whether you are a swimmer\, a dipper or a bobber\, we would like folks of all ages and sizes to come down\, don a silly hat and get in as a group at 1pm. The sillier\, the better. \nWe welcome all individuals and groups (local and visiting). We will be contacting local schools\, groups such as BOWS and the BlueTits\, charities such as The Wave Project and BSLSC as well as local business\, such as Adventure Bude and holiday resorts. \nThis is going to be such a great fun event and way to raise awareness. Please share the word amongst your communities and encourage others to come. Come help fly the Bude flag for protecting our seas and oceans. \nThis event features as part of our Dip & Sip event taking place on 10th June 2023

DESCRIPTION:Bude at War Ranger Relay Rescue \nBude Sea Pool is supporting the Bude at War weekend where our town remembers the 2nd & 29th Battalion US  Rangers stationed here to train for the DD Landings of WW2. Bude Sea Pool was used for their cliff training as well as being used by the Rangers to practice wading/ swimming. \n  \nUnfortunately\, we cannot install a zip line from the cliffs to the Pool as they did back then but we have the next best thing… \n  \nTake part  or come and support 16 teams of ‘Rangers’ as they paddle the length of the Pool against another team of 4 ‘Rangers’. The knockout competition will culminate in the Ranger Relay Recue winners being crowned! \n  \nAll entry fees will be donated to Bude Surf Veterans. \n  \nFoBSP volunteers will be serving American and 1940’s inspired refreshments – hot dogs\, cakes and more! DESCRIPTION:Come and see Ian’s stunning photographic study of our winter swimming community at Bude Sea Pool.  For Ian’s MA work he has made Bude Sea Pool his focus throughout his studies.  He has even joined the winter swimmers in cold dipping himself! Open from 10-6 daily over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.  He will also be offering talks at 11am & 2pm daily.\n\nHere is Ian’s introduction to the images:\n\nThe Sea Pool\, a liminal space between land and sea\, a transitional space between tides\, a place where humanity connects with nature in a space shaped by human activity. Where the going in and the coming out of its swimmers resonates with the ebb and flow of its tidal rhythm. \n‘Winter haven’ investigates the spatial\, physical\, sensory\, social\, and emotional relationships between Bude Sea Pool’s community of swimmers and volunteers sustaining itself through the winter months.
