Friends of Bude Sea Pool is committed to helping local young people learn more about their environment and the resources available to them locally, including Bude Sea Pool. An outreach programme is being built to share historical, geographical, scientific and biological facts about Bude Sea Pool, as well as the physical and mental wellbeing benefits.

Pool Manager, Deb Rosser, is also a local teacher and is making plans to bring the Pool to School and School to the Pool.

Bringing the Pool to School

Deb has just completed a round of whole year assemblies at Budehaven Community School and is in the process of setting up the first ever Youth Committee.

Thanks to a Neighbourhood Grant from South West Water, Bude Sea Pool will be visiting seven local primary schools in the Bude area to give whole-school assemblies at an age-appropriate level. With further funding, we hope to be able to run more programmes and activities in the classrooms too

Bringing Schools to the Pool

The Neighbourhood Grant has also provided funding for transport so that a small group of pupils from each primary school can come to the Pool itself. There will be a hands-on, fun, educational session in collaboration with volunteers from Bude Marine Group and a chance to experience the water for themselves. Many of our local children do not have opportunities to visit the beach and Bude Sea Pool and so this programme will give us an opportunity to showcase our amazing environment.

Thank you to the Community Outreach Team at South West Water. We are very excited to deliver this Programme and hope we can reach even more children in the months to come.
