Update – May 2021

FoBSP are delighted to announce that Bude Sea Pool has re-opened following its annual spring repairs, refurbishment and enhancements.  The contractors worked tirelessly in some horrendous weather conditions and did a wonderful job. Thank you to Vanstones, Stainless Studio Ltd and to Bott. Thank you also to the army of volunteers who showed up to do their part. Keeping Bude Sea Pool up and running is truly a community effort. And all in time for half-term. Looking forward to seeing you all back down at the Pool.

Spot the Artist Exhibition and Auction

Friends of Bude Sea Pool (FoBSP) is hosting these special fundraising events to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of its taking over the management of Bude Sea Pool on behalf of the community in Bude and surrounding the Pool. They will make professional art accessible to all and a perfect way to express the love of the sea and what it gives back to us in terms of wellbeing and pleasure. Providing this opportunity in this remote corner of Cornwall will allow the work of renowned artists to be seen by all and with the possibility of maybe even purchasing a piece of professional artwork.

If you are a professional artist, a well-known person or know someone who might be interested, please get in touch with the team at art@budeseapool.org and we will register your interest and send an information pack which includes the A5 artist card and stamped addressed envelope. All completed work needs to be returned to FoBSP by 18th September 2021.

Update – May 2021

Please be aware that Bude Sea Pool will be drained for annual cleaning and refurbishment from Monday 10th of May and will be out of use for approximately 10 days. We apologise for any inconvenience however this is an essential part of maintaining and protecting the Pool against the fierce elements of the Atlantic. We ask that visitors don’t get close to the work of the contractors and volunteers for your own safety and also so as not to hamper their progress.

As of May 1st and right the way through to the end of high season, Pool Staff will now be at the Pool every day, from 10am-6pm. Please come over and say hello and to ask any questions you may have.

Update – April 2021

We’re back in business for the foreseeable future. Monday 29th March saw Bude Sea Pool official open again, following the Government ‘roadmap’. From Friday 2nd April, the Pool staff will be in force and on full-time duty for the two weeks of the Easter holidays. Staff hours as always depend on tide times and weather, but follow those of the RNLI stationed above the Hub, operating 10am-6pm. From 19th April until the 1st May, Pool Staff will be present only on weekends.

From 12th April, the FoBSP shop in Summerleaze Car Park will  be open once more. Expected opening hours are from 10am-4pm during the week. Volunteers-willing, hopefully weekends will follow too. Our online shop will remain open, delivering locally or via Royal Mail for those further afield.

Date for your Diary

AGM Wednesday 27th January 2021 ( this is likely to be a virtual meeting ).

Update – November 2020

Following a review of the latest regulations and guidance from the Government we advise that Bude Sea Pool is closed and should not be used until the current Covid 19 restrictions are lifted.

Volunteers are however permitted to continue to undertake the vital winter maintenance work around the pool area on a daily basis throughout lockdown.

Volunteer Coffee Mornings – all welcome!

Due to the latest Government restrictions on social gatherings (issued on 9 September 2020) for the foreseeable future., we are unable to plan or announce any future volunteer social events

Please find below dates and venues for our winter volunteer coffee mornings for your diaries. Tea and filter coffee will kindly be supplied by the host venue. Other refreshments will be charged for by the venue as requested.

So many of our volunteers join FoBSP not only to help the work of keeping Bude Sea Pool free and safe for use all year round but to meet other like-minded people in the area. Our coffee mornings are very social and are an ideal opportunity to meet current volunteers and find out how you can be involved.
