Reserve your team’s place for the Channel Challenge swimming event October 2025
Dear swimmers and supporters of Bude Sea Pool,
Can you believe that 2025 will be the 11th anniversary of our popular Channel Challenge swim event in Bude Sea Pool? After the success of last year’s 10th anniversary event when we ran it over two days, we are going to do the same again this year.
The swim will be held on Saturday and Sunday October 4th and 5th 2025. Teams will swim the equivalent length of the Channel and ‘get’ to France. On Sunday teams (different ones) will swim the equivalent length back to England.
The event will start each day from 7:30am until 6:30pm (or until the last swimmer has finished).
Please note this is a fun, fund-raising event for the pool for both elite and recreational swimmers. The English channel is 22 miles wide and so 20 lengths of Bude Sea Pool equates to one mile. Teams can be a mixture of those individuals wanting to do several miles, to those wanting to challenge themselves with a half to one mile as well.
We will encourage fast swimmers to use the usual lane rope which we put in the pool for the event, so slower swimmers can use the rest of the pool to complete their challenge. Drinks and refreshments will be free for all swimmers during the day.
The swim challenge is very popular with places available for 15 teams each day (of up to around 20 members as a rough guide) so please reserve your team’s place today by emailing
Team places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. The cost for each team place is still £140.
Please head your email Channel Challenge 2025, tell us where your team is travelling from and please indicate which day you would prefer your team to swim or if you have no preference. (The Saturday would be ideal for teams who are travelling a distance, and Sunday would be ideal for more local teams.) If we have more than 30 teams entering, we will create a reserve list.
We will be in contact with you in May with further details and we will then ask for the entry fee for the team of £140 to be paid.
